After Biochem

Producing bio-based alternatives

logo after biochem
AFTER-BIOCHEM is a European project based on an innovative process to transform non-food biomass into natural and competitive organic acids with a lower environmental impact.

By reducing dependence on petroleum-based products and reducing CO2 emissions, this project aims to improve the economic and environmental sustainability of European field crops.

The objectives are numerous:

  • To secure the supply of raw material to the biorefinery: co-products of the sugar beet industry,
  • Create new sustainable value chains from renewable and non-food raw materials,
  • Implement a zero waste strategy based on an optimised production process and the use of co-products as fertiliser,
  • To bring to market a range of organic acids with diverse applications,
  • To create and maintain jobs in the Grand Est region.
