Towards the vertical farm of the future

logo farmyng
The European FARMŸNG project is based on a new agri-food value chain to produce safe, high nutritional quality ingredients for the Petfood and Fish feed market, from an innovative origin: the Tenebrio molitor beetle.

A flagship example of industrial-scale production of nutritional resources from insects, the FARMŸNG project has economic (job creation), environmental (reduction of the carbon footprint of greenhouse gas emissions) and societal (new consumer products) interests.

Its main objectives are:

  • To build the world’s first fully automated vertical production plant for insect-based ingredients (20,000 tonnes of protein per year),
  • To meet the demand of the aquaculture feed and pet food markets, as well as the fertiliser market,
  • Ensure the sustainability of the industrial facility, from raw material supply to finished products.
